Leg And Knee Injuries

Greater Hartford’s Trusted Knee & Leg Injury Attorneys

At some point in life, many will encounter a medical problem with one, or both of, their knees. The knee is the largest joint in the human body, so it is rather common that wear and tear leads to injuries in sports, recreational use, work-related tasks, or even home projects. If you suffered a knee or leg injury while on the clock, contact your Costello, Coombes, and Brown attorney prior to submitting your worker’s compensation claim. With over 30 years of dealing with injury-related cases and getting you the compensation you deserve, our team of professional attorneys will not stop fighting until you get the justice you rightfully deserve.

Common Types of Knee and Leg Injuries

The stresses of work, especially physically active jobs can result in leg or knee pain. Over time, if the wear and tear isn’t addressed, you may end up in severe pain and may not be able to continue working.
  • Fractures: Can occur from high impact trauma, such as a car accident or a fall. The most commonly fractured broken bone in this area is the patella, also known as the kneecap. This injury occurs when a bone breaks or cracks in the leg area.
  • Dislocations: Occurs when the bones of the knee are out of their proper alignment or placement. This can occur due to accidents or slip and falls.
  • Tears: Can be commonly found in the meniscus, anterior cruciate ligament (ACL,) or the posterior cruciate ligament (PCL.) Most commonly occurs when someone injures themselves while the knee is bent. Individuals can also experience tears in calves, achilles tendons, or quadriceps as well.
  • Tendonitis: Patellar tendinitis is an injury to the tendon connecting your kneecap to your shinbone. It occurs with over-use and worsens over time.
  • Bursitis: The bursa is a smooth surface that helps to reduce friction between the body’s tissues, and one of the largest bursae is found in the knees. When the bursa becomes inflamed, which often happens following an injury to the joint, it is known as bursitis, and can be very painful.

Knee and Leg Injury Symptoms

Knee and leg injuries can not only limit your ability to perform your job duties as well as enjoying everyday life activities. Common types of injuries from leg and knee injuries include:
  • Severe Pain, which may worsen with excessive movement.
  • Tenderness, or marked knee swelling.
  • Bruising
  • Inability to walk, or straighten out the knee.
  • Muscle and joint stiffness, as noted above.
  • Pain getting up or climbing stairs
Pain varies person to person. If you have suffered from any of these symptoms as a result of a leg or knee injury on the job, contact CCB law today.
